A Psychedelic Journey Through Dance. Taking the old and making it new again, the pre-professional dance company of the Carnegie Performing Arts Center brings psychedelic dances to life in the songs of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison. The Carnegie Music Hall is transformed into a 60’s Fillmore Ballroom where the lights, dancing and music bring back the mood of an era.
Offenbach’s Can Can is brought to life in a dazzling display of skirts, ruffles and high kicks. The timeless story of a murderous Count and a Flower Girl’s romantic suitors sets the stage for swordfights, high romance, and the swirl of high kicking Can Can girls. Completing the program will be ballet excerpts from the classical dances such as Don Quixote, a tour de force for a ballerina and her partner.
